Tool production

In the field of tool manufacturing, laser microprocessing is mainly used for the generation of chip stages.

Tool characteristics are crucial to the quality of the end product in machining. Making the cutting edge of tools as sharp as possible is no longer sufficient to meet the rising requirements in the industry. In the meantime, a so-called chip breaker is also applied to the cutting edges.

This recess is positioned directly behind the cutting edge using laser technology, serving to remove chips on the one hand. On the other hand, the chip breaker also affects the consistency of the material residue that is removed. Ultrafast laser technology and GFH precision machine construction are combined in order to achieve the desired results here. The laser beams trim the cutting edge and apply the chip breaker to the material with precision.
